The exhibition proposes a space for debate about the new frontiers of contemporary art and presents the first Brazilian generation of digital artists who use the blockchain platform to validate their production.
The theme of the exhibition aligns with the initiative of the United Nations (UN) for Education, Science and Culture (Unesco) in favor of the oceans. In this way, it promotes reflections on the contemporary world and the future on an ecosystemic, interdependent, hyperconnected and highly technological planet, but with great challenges of coexistence and sustainability.

The PGE-RJ Cultural Center opens the PHYGITAL exhibition on March 14th. It brings together works by 9 Brazilian artists who research the consequences of the digital universe's presence in our daily lives and its consequences for society. The exhibition will occupy the exhibition hall of the former Convento do Carmo in the center of Rio and will be open for free visits until July 13th.
The term "phygital" comes from the fusion of the words physical and digital and has been adopted to refer to initiatives that integrate the physical and digital worlds. In the words of Curator Cecília Fortes from the PGE-RJ Cultural Center, the exhibition suggests "a reflection on the effects of this hybrid physical x digital world increasingly present in our daily lives, as well as on new forms of human interactions through the use of technology."
Artists: Anna Costa e Silva, Ilê Sartuzi, Leo Zeba, Luis D´orey, Monica Rizzolli, Piti Tomé, Rafael Alonso, Sofia Caesar and Vitória Cribb.
